Our lab studies the evolution, ecology, and emergence of fungi across scales ranging from individual microbial interactions to millions of years of evolutionary change. We integrate experiments, genomics, systematics, and natural history collections to examine these processes across days, decades, centuries, and deep evolutionary time. By connecting contemporary biology with historical and evolutionary perspectives, we seek to understand how fungi diversify, adapt to new hosts and environments, interact with other organisms, and emerge as pathogens.
